Highlight

The great future hope of Phuket’s fishing world is the continental drop-off into the deep Andaman Sea. Few boats have fished this, for few have the range to travel the 70 odd kilometres out to sea. This is beyond the Similan Islands, which can be used as overnight anchorage and base for boats venturing on multi-day tours. Hope abounds that this continental drop-off is home to the grandaddies of the juvenile marlin that are quite common in the shallow island waters.

Phuket has less than a half dozen modern, international standard game fishing boats, most operated or owned by foreign expatriates (see list below). This is augmented by a dozen or more wooden Thai boats converted for fishing convenience. The Thai crews on these boats are also knowledgeable though they do not always follow the billfish catch-and-release policy followed by all international operators.

I suspect there aren't many reviews on here from a woman so I thought I must write and say how wonderful this day was. It was the highlight of our trip. The most beautiful landscape, the lake is so green and the mountains so high... with the most exotic plants and flowers surrounding it. It is peaceful and quiet.... everybody should spent a day here.

Recently I went to phuket.it was just amazing place for water activities lovers. God has given immens natural beauty to phuket. Phi phi island is a must see place to explore.sight activities like snokling, scuba diving, pera glinding etc etc were superb. Also phuket fsntasy show must watch.All animales are well trained.Off course for vegetarians it is hard to get veg food but still one can manage for 3-4 days.

If you want to have the opportunity to catch BIG fish then this is the place to come. Breakfast in the restaurant followed by fishing for 11 hours and dinner back in the restaurant to finish. Amazing scenic setting of the lake with large Arapaima fish rolling on the surface.

With the continuing inclement weather a few of us decided to investigate a new “fresh water” fishing park in Phang Na about a 2 hour drive north from our base in Chalong. Talk about “The Land that Time Forgot”, well we found it! Even before we starting fishing the scenery had us gobsmacked as the lake is completely surrounded by a huge cliff face on one side and massive tree covered mini-mountains on the other three.
